The fundamentals
What is remedial massage?
Remedial massage is a hands-on physical therapy used to treat musculoskeletal conditions of the body. As your therapist, I use verbal and physical assessment to formulate a treatment plan that restores function to the musculoskeletal system and the surrounding fascia.
Massage increases circulation, which reduces pain symptoms by clearing out the chemical irritants that cause inflammation and swelling.
Alongside hands-on remedial work, the clinic also draws on these effective adjunct treatments:
- Myofascial cupping
- Trigger point dry needling
- Electro acupuncture
- TENS machine stimulation
- Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation (IASTM) tools
- Massage gun stimulation
The toolkit
How each adjunct treatment works.
Myofascial Cupping
Cups are applied to muscles and trigger points. The mechanical response minorly bursts blood vessels under the skin, which positions the target tissue into a state of recovery. Cupping loosens fascia, increases circulation and calms an overactive nervous system.
TPDN & Electro Acupuncture
Trigger point dry needling and electro acupuncture achieve two responses: a mechanical response that helps reduce pain in the body, and a biochemical response that increases circulation and positions the muscle, tendon or joint space into a state of recovery.
TENS Machine
A TENS machine is an electronic nerve stimulator that delivers electrical current to the body, providing temporary relief to the nervous system and short-term pain reduction.
IASTM Tools
Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation tools are used in place of the therapist's hands to assist in soft tissue work, helping break down restrictions and improve tissue quality.
Massage Gun Stimulation
Percussive therapy delivers rapid pulses through the body which can reduce muscle tension, increase circulation and provide temporary pain relief.
A key part of sports medicine
Massage is widely recognised as a key component of sports medicine, supporting recovery, performance and long-term injury management for everyday movers and pro athletes alike.
How it works
Every session starts with a consultation.
Before any treatment begins, we sit down for a thorough in-person consultation and physical assessment.
Symptoms , we carefully analyse your movement patterns or range of motion, posture and last injury to determine which service or combination of treatments will best address the root cause and get you back to feeling your best.
The services are custom to your body actually needs.
